Bonnes Mares Joseph Drouhin 2014 (750ML)
A much more restrained nose speaks of softly spicy black cherry liqueur, anise, wood and violet scents. The highly seductive and gorgeously textured broad-shouldered flavors are notably better concentrated while coating the palate with dry extract that also serves to buffer the firm but not hard tannins that support the hugely long finish. What I find interesting about this wine is that notwithstanding the prominent tannins that should allow it to age for 15 to 20 years with no problem the abundant extract is such that it should also be agreeable after only 7 to 8 years of bottle age...94 Burghound 04/16
"95+ Points, John Gilman, View From The Cellar: ""The 2014 Bonnes-Mares from the Drouhin family, of which there are only two piéces this year, was still in cask in November. This is going to be a gorgeous vintage for this very underrated Drouhin grand cru, as the wine soars from the glass in a blaze of sappy black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, a touch of nutskin, a superbly complex base of soil, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a sappy core of fruit, superb soil inflection, ripe, suave tannins and a very, very long, focused and utterly pure finish. Great Bonnes-Mares in the making! 2025-2075."" 12/15"
