Bellwether Sawmill Creek Off Dry Riesling Finger Lakes 2014 (750ML)

91 Points, Kelli White, Vinous: "An interesting counterpoint to the Dry Riesling from the same vineyard and vintage, this wine is a vastly different interpretation of the same fruit. Once harvested, it is subjected to six hours of skin contact, placed inside a plastic egg, and left to ferment at very cold temperatures throughout the winter, before being bottled with a touch (32 grams) of residual sugar. Of the two wines, this one is far more ready to drink. The nose is quite expressive, and also quite reductive, offering scents of lemon oil, tarragon, grilled peaches, and flint. The palate is lean, but with a soft coating of weightless glycerin that wraps around the stern acidity. The finish is mineral-laden with a funky edge, redolent of burnt sugar. 30 grams per liter residual sugar." 07/16
