94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: “The 2016 Barbaresco Albesani is holding back so much right now. With a few hours of air, the Albesani starts to reveal the inner sweetness and perfume that are so typical of wines from this Neive vineyard. Sweet dried cherry, rose petal, kirsch, cinnamon, orange peel and sweet tobacco open with a bit of coaxing. Like all the 2016s, the Albesani is painfully tannic at this stage. It clearly has a lot to offer for those who can wait for the searing tannins to soften, even if just a bit.” 10/21
95 Points, Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator: "There is some breadth here, setting the stage for the plum, cherry, menthol, iron and tar flavors. Powerful and lively, with the vibrant structure driving the intensity and a lingering aftertaste of fruit and savory elements. Best from 2024 through 2043." 12/21
