Rob Allen has worked in the wine business for over 12 years, initially learning the trade at a retail store while attending Culinary Institute of America. He has created a name for himself at the intersection where food and wine meet. Rob has spent his time since graduating from the CIA honing his knack for pleasing both oenophiles and foodies alike throughout all of the USA. He was both chef and restaurateur in the Hudson Valley before coming to New York City to concentrate on his passion for wine. After working to broaden the portfolio and to add food experiences to wine tastings at Domaine Select Wine Estate, Rob moved on to find his niche as Senior Portfolio Manager at Italian Wine Merchants. During his 8 years at IWM, he helped grow the company with its international presence, taking on the role of Vice president of International Sales. Rob went onto launch New York Vintners as a managing partner, providing him with business experience beyond wine sales and operations, such as brand creation, marketing, IT management, and financial management.
His experience in the wine industry has provided him with an extensive knowledge of European wines as well as the contacts for procuring wines in high demand in the market place today. Rob's clients trust his incredibly deep knowledge of wine, and they are drawn to his natural, unpretentious ability to understand, match, and develop their tastes. From everyday table wine to rare vintage wines, Rob brings his vast experience and valuable resourcefulness to each of his clients.
