Melville Estate - Central Coast Institution Just Keeps Going!
We just can't say enough about this ever-growing region of California. Napa Valley may be world-famous for its Cabernets, but Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara, and the other sub-regions of the Central Coast are where three major varietals are thriving: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. The wineries of the region have been making beautiful wines from these grapes, and right now we're featuring one of the very best: Melville Estate.
This Central Coast institution has been followed closely by reviewers Robert Parker, Antonio Galloni, Jeb Dunnuck, and many others over the years. Clearly, the good times just keep rolling for Melville:
"Winemaker Greg Brewer and grower Chad Melville continue to knock it out of the park with these Melville releases. Focusing on site, if not plot, specific releases, neutral oak, no SO2 until racking and varying degrees of whole cluster are the norm here. The wines have individual characters and, stylistically, lean toward the more complex, finesse-driven side of the spectrum. They "wow" more for their balance and nuance than their power and richness. They also remain reasonably priced!" - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate Issue # 208, August 2013.
Though it has been less than two decades, Melville has permanently left its mark. And with wine lovers around the world opting for balance in their wines over power, the only place for this winery to go is up!
These wines are available but in limited supply, so lock in now and enjoy some Central Coast beauties for yourself!
