Concha Y Toro Is So Intriguing That I Am "Chile or Bust"
Concha y Toro is far from a newcomer to the wine world...quite the contrary...they are a global wine institution. From 1883, when Don Melchor first planted vines in the Maipo Valley, to 1994, the year of Concha y Toro's Initial Public Offering, to 2012, when they earned their second consecutive "Most Admired Wine Brand" award from Drinks International, they have proven time and time again that they are one of the top wineries in the world.
For whatever reason the brand has not significantly impacted Zachys in the past...that was until I had the chance to meet current Fetzer/Concha y Toro CEO Giancarlo Bianchetti last year. In the wine business you rarely meet a team of progressive, committed and results oriented people like this. Both Fetzer and Concha y Toro's 'green initiative' is correct and current and I have been SO IMPRESSED with everything they are doing and the significant jump in quality from the wines in both estates.
So much so that when I the Giancarlo extended an invitation for me to come to Chile for a few days next week I said, "Yes...yes...yes!!!"
I am SO EXCITED to go (As I already visited Fetzer this Fall and was BLOWN AWAY by the change) to see what drives such a large brand like Concha y Toro to such levels.
I am going to be sure to video my travels so you can share in my experience and thought this week would be the perfect week to do Concha y Toro promotion (Featuring remaining stocks of their Top 100 wine from last year!). With 4 of these wines all selling for under $25/Bottle and the Don Melchor being one of THE premier red wines from South America...there is a lot of greatness here.
Load up and stay tuned for more on "Chile or Bust".
All my best,
