Hot off the Press: 100 points for Barton!
Press broke this past weekend of the Leoville Barton 2010 massive 100 point score from the Wine Enthusiast. So we thought there was no better timing than the day of our Union of Grand Cru Bordeaux, 2010 Grand Bordeaux Tasting to give you an offer hot off the presses!
Leoville Barton has built a reputation over the past decade of being a classic St. Julien with one of the best QPRs in the crazy world of Bordeaux pricing. The 2010 Leoville Barton is holding true to its reputation, with other 100 pointers of the vintage costing upwards of $500+/btl the Leoville Barton is still reasonably priced, and dare we say a ‘value' at $140/btl.
With the Leoville Barton still awaiting final scores from Robert Parker and the Wine Spectator, take note from this massive score and assume this is a shoo-in for big score upgrades across the board… but don't wait because we can't guarantee you'll still be able to find it (or at least not at this price point).
"A magnificently solid wine, initially severe. At this young stage, the tannins dominate in a wine that also reveals a full fruit salad bowl of black fruits. Very dense, concentrated, this is a wine that’s even better than the legendary 2005. The structure tells of its extraordinary aging potential: don’t even attempt to drink this for 10 years....100."
