Our 1st Must Have 2010 Napa Cab...
"2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: An Epic Vintage...The 2010s are magnificent, viscerally thrilling wines loaded with character and personality...there is no question 2010 is the greatest vintage for Napa Valley in the 2008-2011 time period...The superiority of the 2010s vis-a-vis the 2009s is increasingly clear, in that the 2010s have much more finessed tannins, richer fruit and better balance. Another feature of the 2010s is that the wines are very site-specific, in other words, they are steeped in terroir. Yes, terroir does exist in California... Readers should do whatever they can to source the best 2010s, as they are magnificent. The top wines will reward cellaring and be long-lived." Antonio Galloni 12/12.
If you are a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon lover, you have heard by now of the Antonio Galloni report in the Wine Advocate. An excerpt of the report is mentioned above and there has been further discussions on twitter and the erobertparker.com bulletin board on just how great the 2010 vintage is for Napa Valley. All in all, Antonio Galloni, fully supported by Robert Parker, is calling the 2010 vintage the finest since 2007 and a vintage that may rival the modern day benchmark of Napa Valley.
Today, I am pleased to release one of our first offers on the 2010 vintage. The wine is one of the most consistent wines of Napa Valley and a wine that has long been considered the greatest Bordeaux example of Napa Valley and one of the longest lived wines too. It is none other than the Philip Togni 2010 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.
Togni, who studied at Mouton Rothschild, has established one of the greatest wineries in Napa Valley. Tiny in size and production, Togni and his wines have remained in the fringe for years leaving those I the know to gobble up his wines and enjoy them over the years. One to stay true to his course Philip Togni makes wine today the same has he did in the beginning and adding to his keeping things the same the Togni Cabernet Sauvignon has remained an under $125 bottle upon release, while many of his peers and new wineries are considerably more.
