Zenato's "Baby Amarone"
Sergio Zenato is a man who needs no introduction. The wine that carries his name (Amarone Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato 2006) was recently considered one of the 10 best wines of 2012 by James Suckling and is still available for sale here. Their Amarone is also a consistently high-quality award-winner. But it's the quality of this value wine that has impressed us the most this past year:
This isn't just an entry-level wine, nor is it run-of-the-mill Valpolicella. When Sergio himself says "The Ripassa is one of the most significant wines in the history of our company," you're obliged to take it seriously! And at $22.99, far below the release cost, this is sure to keep you warm AND keep your wallet full!
The Ripasso process uses partially-dried grapes to create a luscious, full-bodied, hearty wine that makes a perfect pairing with beef stew and cold winter nights. This wine is in stock, but once it is gone it is gone for good. I'll be locking in for my bottles ASAP, and I advise you do the same!
