Wine Enthusiast's 'Winery of the Year': Yarden
Saturday, February 16th | In-store | 12-4pm
On February 16th, we are hosting The "Best" New World winery! Yarden Winery will be here pouring their award-winning wines. 2013 may well be the time when Israel finally starts to get some serious wine press attention! Israel has been receiving accolades and awards from all over the wine press world. Yarden Winery received the Gran Vinitaly Special Award as the best wine producer. The award is given to the wine producer achieving the best overall results. The Golan Heights Winery earned two of Vinitaly’s 16 coveted Grand Gold Medals.
"Israel is a small country; we see very big changes in conditions in very small distances,” says Victor Schoenfeld, winemaker at Yarden. “In the Golan Heights, we have a classic Mediterranean climate. On the coastal plain, it is more subtropical; in the south, the climate is arid. We have soils of different types, ranging from one million years old to 270 million years old. Wine was made for a very long time in our area, up to the 8th century. After that, vines started to be planted in our area, the Golan Heights, just in 1976. So we are a very old area and a very young area, all at the same time.”
Taiim Cellar opened last month and are delighting customers with an array of Middle Eastern dishes and wine. With a wide selection of wine by the glass and an array of food from cheese platters and hummus selections to heartier sandwiches and salads, there is sure to be something for everyone.
Come taste through these exciting and varied selections and meet the newest restaurant addition to Scarsdale Village and sample an array of their favorite hummus.
