Domestic Beaucastel to Warm Up With...
It is a pretty cold day in the NYC area. This morning in Brooklyn, as I walked the kids to school, it felt like 10 or 12 degrees outside with the wind. When I got off the train in Scarsdale, it was a "warm" 20 degrees...That makes the wine shop feel warm, if you know what I mean.
So, that had me thinking, "What is a good wine to warm up with?" Many people would gravitate to the Rhone for a big red, but today I’ve taken that Rhone idea and twisted it to a California red with Rhone inspiration.
Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel is a perfect red to enjoy right now. The 2008 vintage is a knockout and we still have some stock to offer. As you can tell by the name, the Perrins of Chateau Beaucastel are involved in this winery and are producing excellent Rhone-styled wines here in Paso Robles.
