Rhone vs Spain with Eric Solomon
Saturday, December 1st | In-store | 12pm-4pm
Solomon the legendary importer of many of the Rhone Valley’s and Spain’s greatest estates is pulling in to Scarsdale this Saturday for a comparative tasting of Grenache. Eric is pulling Grenache from the Rhone, Southern France and Spain for a mini-smack down! Actually some might call it a massive smack down considering the wines Eric has decided to open for us all. The line-up includes Chateauneuf du Papes from Clos St. Jean, Marcoux and Domaine de la Janasse plus the extremely sought after Priorats from Nit de Nin and Clos Erasmus. And plenty of other great wines to round it all out too!!! This is a do not miss tasting that is full of fantastic wines.
Loire Valley Exploration
John David Headrick is a name you need to start to recognize on the back of wine bottles. Much like Kermit Lynch, Becky Wasserman, and Eric Solomon you will begin to see more and more bottles of wine carry this gentleman’s name. John David is a one man show brining the USA some amazing wines from France. With a deep focus on the Loire Valley, John David is one of the leading importers of the wines of Loire and this Saturday he is here to showcase the breadth and beauty of the Loire Valley and dispel the myth that Loire Valley whites are only meant for the summer. The line-up includes the Food & Wine Magazine featured Muscadet of Delhommeau, the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 ranked Sancerre from Riffault, Vacheron Sancerre Rose and Viking Vouvray back to 1995! This is one fun tasting that is sure to dispel a few myths; plus with John David’s good friend Eric Solomon also joining us the same day there is sure to be some strong show-up manship going on.
