The Greatest Deal In Cabernet for the Year!?
On Friday we received our copies of the Wine Spectator December 15th issue. Heading straight to the back for the reviews we found this Cabernet Sauvignon listed under "Smart Buys".
Now this got us thinking. Could this be a Top 100 Wine of 2012 from the Wine Spectator? Maybe. But so could its big brother Clos Apalta which received 96 points. But then again this is a great value at only $25 (only $18.95 at Zachys) versus the $90 for Clos Apalta.
Then that got us really thinking. For Cabernet Sauvignon based wines this beauty for only $25 per bottle really is a stand-out value. So off to Wine Spectator.com we went and this is what we found out...when you search using the advance options for Cabernet Sauvignon & blends, rated 90 points or higher, max price of $25 and reviewed within the last 12 months…the 2010 Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre is the BEST BUY Cabernet Sauvignon. There is no other Cabernet Sauvignon from anywhere in the world popping up that costs the same or less with a higher score! (The five listed before without price noted in this search…well they are all over $25; considerably.)
Putting the Top 100 aside, the 2010 Casa Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre is clearly one of the best value Cabernet Sauvignons of the year! It is a great bottle to have in the house at this time of the year. That's why we have made sure to stock-up and have plenty of this SMART BUY arriving tomorrow!
