98WS $1K vs 96WS $135...Same Ownership
In yesterday's Wine Spectator Insider the Hot Wines were dominated by the big wines of Chile.
At 96 points and the first wine of the list was Almaviva.
Now many of you are familiar with this iconic wine that proved Chile could produce world class Cabernet based wines. Found by Mouton Rothschild, in parntership with Concha y Toro, Almaviva is the benchmark for Bordeaux styled wines in Chile.
The 2009 vintage is not only a landmark, legendary vintage for Bordeaux, but an exceptional one for Chile as well.
Now the question begs which would you prefer?
Mouton Rothschild 2009 (98WS) for $1000 plus per bottle
Almaviva 2009 (96WS) for $135 per bottle?
Both are great wines and some of their finest. Actually this is the highest rated Almaviva ever from the Wine Spectator!
