Greatest Value of the Rhone?! $9.95 & possible 91pt from Robert Parker
Arriving in two weeks is possibly the Greatest Value from the Rhone Valley. From the tremendous 2010 vintage the Delas St Esprit Cotes du Rhone for only $9.95 per bottle!!!
As a dedicated client of ours, you know by now that we have long been on the Delas bandwagon, especially for their Cotes du Rhone. The wine is super consistent and truly is one of the greatest values produced in France each year. Something that Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate has clearly recognized and pointed out time and time again. In fact, Mr. Parker made sure to include the Delas St. Esprit Cotes du Rhone in his latest book: Parker's Wine Bargains, the World's Best Wines Values Under $25.
Well, this wine takes the cake at under $10 per bottle!
As I mentioned the 2010 vintage for the Rhone Valley is a tremendous one for both the North and South. Robert Parker's vintage chart has given the North 94 points overall and the South 97 points overall. Yes, Delas is a winery based in the North, but their vineyard stretch as far south as Cotes du Ventoux and the Cotes du Rhone St Esprit is from vineyards that lie in the Southern Rhone where Mr. Parker has rated the vintage overall 97 points just one point shy from what he calls the Southern Rhone's Greatest Vintage ever: 2007.
You may recall the 2007 Delas Cotes du Rhone was a blockbuster and a steal at 90 points from the Wine Advocate and only $10 per bottle. The 2010 is almost an exact duplicate of the 2007 vintage. The depth and power is here. The fruit and spice are just as alluring. And the VALUE is still possibly the GREATEST in the Rhone Valley!!!
