"Collectible" Brunello..."Non-Collectible" Price!
When I saw this wine in the Wine Spectator Advance, I had a strange feeling of De Ja Vu.
I knew I had seen a score like this before. Turns out I had: Stephen Tanzer also gave this a 95. But what I didn’t know was that James Suckling had ALSO given this wine a 95. My De Ja Vu was having De Ja Vu!!
It wasn’t just scores either. Everyone is raving about Altesino’s Brunello Riserva 2006:
“Wonderful” – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
“Fabulous” – Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate
“Intense” – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator
“Suave” – Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellars
“Affordable” – Stefan Wolansky, Zachys Wine & Liquor
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself! But if I could sum up this offer in one word, that would be it! The reviewers may all agree that this is a fantastic wine, but when a “Collectible” is available at a “non-Collectible” price, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention it!
Altesino is one of the biggest names in Montalcino, and for good reason: they have been historically at the forefront of Brunello production and innovation, and their consistently excellent products have given them well-deserved international acclaim. Whether you drink now or lay it down, we are more than happy to give everyone the opportunity to review this wine for themselves! And if you’ve already tasted it, what’s the harm in a little De Ja Vu??
