Sancerre Domaine des Vieux Pruniers 2016 (750ML)
"Domaine des Vieux-Pruniers is situated a mere 2.5 miles from Sancerre, in the village of Bué, known for its steep, amphitheater-like vineyards, where some of the hillsides approach 65° gradients. Today, Christian Thirot-Fournier and his wife tend to their roughly 10 hectares of vines, divided between two varieties: 7 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc is planted to chalky limestone soils, while 3 hectares of Pinot Noir grows on clay-limestone. Together they raise the wine from start to finish, from growing the grapes to bottling the wines. A classic, minerally-laden, Sancerre from the village of Bué, which is prized for its limestone-rich soils (though not the Kimmeridgian limestone of Chavignol). They are moving toward a more “sustainable” viticulture regime, and no herbicides are used for the majority of their parcels. The grapes are cold-fermented for 15 days in 100% stainless steel tanks. After several months aging on its fine lees, the wine is fined, filtered and bottled at the domaine. Flinty, floral notes on the nose with zesty passion fruit and pear flavors on the palate." - Distributor Note
