Barolo Le Coste di Rose Marchesi di Barolo 2011 (93IWR) (750ML)
93 Points, International Wine Report: "The 'Coste di Rose' Cru is located in the community of Barolo, just in front of the Bussia hill in Monforte. This vineyard is characterized by a very steep slope with soils that are moderately calcareous and very rich in quartzite sand, fine limestone and just a small amount of clay. The 2011 is an outstanding Barolo, which is made in a very traditional style. As this slowly begins to unwind in the glass it releases petty aromas of red fruits, spices, mint, licorice and dried floral, all coming together beautifully. It shows an impressive firm structure, backed by fine tannins and wonderful balance. The long chewy finish is marked by red fruits and spices. Overall, a lovely effort, but this will not be a wine you can rush into, some patience will be required. (Best 2018-2031)" 9/15. 91 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Boasting a soft and yielding style, the 2011 Barolo Coste di Rose will appeal those looking for a more approachable Barolo. The wine is rich and dark with aromas of dark cherry, candied blackberry, spice, licorice and resin. The cherry component is dominant. But baking spice and cardamom also play supporting roles. The tannins are plush and rich and, overall, the wine shows a cheerful personality and an upfront character. This Barolo is well suited to near and medium-term drinking." Issue# 219, 6/15. 91 Points, James Suckling: "Soft and easy with dark berry, plum and mushroom character. Some cream too. Full-bodied, round and savory. Drink now or hold." 4/15.
