"Amazingly, the 2010 Clos de la Maréchale had little problems following on the heels of the magical troika of Bonnes-Mares, Amoureuses and Musigny in our sequence of tasting. This is the finest wine to date produced from this lovely vineayrds since Monsieur Mugnier took it back into the family fold, as the wine soars from the glass in a beautiful and vibrant bouquet of red and black cherries, pomegranate, fresh cocoa, a lovely base of soil, a touch of nutskin, vinesmoke and roses. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very sappy at the core, with striking transparency, beautiful focus and balance and lovely grip on the ripely tannic, elegant and very long finish. A beautiful wine...94" JG 12/11 "True to the Mugnier style, this is also wonderfully pure with its expressive nose of earthy red pinot fruit that also exhibits notes of underbrush and a mineral component that is picked up by the vibrant and well-delineated middle weight flavors. The mid-palate is relatively refined and the Nuits origins don't really show up until the firm and mouth coating finish and even then it's more in the way of muscle than rusticity. Less silky than the wines from Chambolle but dense, sappy and energetic, and quite fine and perfumed in the mid-palate for Nuits Saint Georges. Very firmly structured wine with serious building tannins that currently cut off the fruit. This should develop gracefully. Mugnier made an approximation of the final blend by combining samples from each lot, noting that there will probably not be a Clos des Fourches in 2010 as the quality of the grapes was consistently high...91-94" IWC 02/12 "It is very interesting to taste the 2010 Nuits St. Georges Clos de la Marechale after the Grand Crus and the Amoureuses. It is easily the darkest and most tannic of the 2010s. The Marechale shows marvelous depth and the richness to match its decidedly powerful, virile personality. This has tons of fruit and muscle, yet also possesses the fabulous inner perfume and mineral-driven energy that is such a signature of the vintage. This is an impressive showing...91-93" WA 02/12
