"...I am an out-of-state customer who buys mostly French wine, especially Burgundy and Rhone. I have been a regular cyber customer for about the last five years. My original connection to Zachys goes back to the mid-1970s when I would drive from Manhattan, where I lived then, to your store to pick up things like cases of Ch. La Lagune 1970 for $48 a case. I am pleased to say that, over the last five years, your customer [service] has gone from being good to being excellent. Several things are crucial for an out of state customer. First, it is essential that the package in fact goes out the day it is scheduled to ship. Given that alcohol has to be signed for, it is highly inconvenient to have to juggle my schedule around because the package was shipped late and is not going to arrive when I had planned for it. I cannot remember a time when my package failed to ship on the agreed upon date. Also, you now provide a Fedex tracking number automatically; that is very helpful. Finally, it is important to speak to a competent, helpful person on the phone. You have a very good group in customer service; they listen and follow through on what I am inquiring about or ordering. David Ocran is always particularly helpful. It is great to see a company as large as Zachys now is that pays such close attention to the quality of its service." Stephen 1/13

"When you are super busy before the holidays, as I know that you are -- the last thing that you are probably thinking of -- is more business. But if Zachys isn’t already taking a bite out of the big discounters -- it should be taking a huge chunk...
 
My wife asked me if I had looked at other competitor's holiday flyers (their version of the Zachys holiday gazette, but not as classy). My response was to throw it out. Her reply was “you only buy from Zachys – how do you know that you are getting a good deal?” So I said -- do you want to drink any of this cheap wine? After a quick NO, we selected several 91 plus rated wines from the flyer that we would consider purchasing and I quickly proved with the aid of the selection tools on Zachys website that the same, as good or better wines were available at a lower price. She quickly lost interest and the flyer was tossed in the round file...If great value on quality wines is what you care about -- DROP BY, CALL US or visit Zachys.com...

By the way, we took the Wicked Smart recommendation on a case of Chianti Nipozzano Rufina Riserva Frescobaldi 2007. I am not usually a big Chianti fan, but my wife and I tried a bottle last night and it is easily the best Chianti that we have tasted.

"By the way, I really like Andrew’s Angle.  There is a lot of info on the web that is not worth reading and your site provides a great perspective on quality wines that represent great value in the $15 to $50 price range where I buy cases and I am sure that a lot of customers do the same.  I know that you have high end customers that purchase cases at $100 plus a bottle and only care about securing the best quality available, but you have experts that they can call for that advice and personal attention.

I have heard that Costco is the largest volume wine merchant in America.  In States where they sell wine, I have looked at what is available.  If you want a few bottles at a low price, Costco seems to fill a market segment, but if you look for 90 plus WA and WS rated wines, the selection thins and the value disappears.  A quick search of Zachys website produces far more choices that represent far better value.

I hope that your father-in-law appreciates your hard work to make Zachys such a great place.  Since I first walked into the store over 6 years ago I have not shopped anywhere else." Gordon 11/11
