Celebrate the wines of Italy's finest estates with Zachys' Fall Auction: An Ode To Italy at Del Posto Ristorante in New York!
On November 12, 13 & 14 Zachys Wine Auctions is thrilled to partner with Slow Food-founded University of Gastronomic Sciences for NYC Italian Wine Weekend, a three-day long celebration of the wines, food and culture of Italy benefiting Slow Food University. Internationally renowned Italian chefs and winemakers will take part in the special weekend series of wine auctions, food and wine tasting.
At Zachys' Evening Sale, a "Five Decades of Barolo at Babbo" dinner will be auctioned off, and during Friday night's White Truffle Gala Dinner, exclusive once-in-a-lifetime trips to Italy will be sold, all to benefit the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Zachys' Fall Auction kicks off on Thursday, November 12th at 6:30PM with an extraordinary Evening Sale and BYO dinner at Del Posto, with a seven-course menu available to registered bidders. This 400+ lot session features an incredible Italian selection from The Big Guy Collection including Barolo Monfortino Riserva Speciale Giacomo Conterno 1978 (Lot 10) and Sassicaia 1985 in bottles and magnums (Lots 42 & 43), as well as many other fine and rare highlights from Italy and around the globe.
Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th are filled to the brim with over 1800 lots of blue chip wines, including further offerings from The Big Guy Collection and Schrader Cellars, as well as an incredible selection from Greg Daily. Also noteworthy are a collection from Restaurateur Joe Bastianich's own personal wine cellar, and over 70 lots of Italian wines with all proceeds to benefit Slow Food University. A sumptuous five-course luncheon will be available to registered bidders at Del Posto during Friday's and Saturday's sessions, and as with all Zachys auctions, we welcome you to bring wines from your own collection to enjoy with Del Posto's seasonal Italian cuisine. The menu for Friday night's White Truffle Gala Dinner event has been created by Mario Batali, Lidia Bastianich, Piedmont's Michelin-starred Chef Ugo Alciati from Guido and Giuseppe Barbero from Osteria Del Boccondivino. Each table will be hosted by one of 20 legendary Italian wine producers, pouring exclusive vintages and selections of wine including Ca' Viola, Borgogno and Bruno Giacosa, among others.
