The auction season is well under way and our September Hong Kong and New York sales affirmed that the market continues to focus on the most highly sought after and the hardest-to-find bottlings. The best Burgundy, Champagne, mature Bordeaux, and classic California wines are especially in demand and prices continue to escalate. The Fall Auction, being held Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th at Smith & Wollensky, features several important collections and continues the trend of impressively diverse sales.
In Friday's session, Zachys is honored to feature THE GIVTON COLLECTION: A TRUE WINE COLLECTOR’S “CABINET” (Lots 198-522), a remarkable cellar assembled over thirty-eight years by Albert Givton, one of Canada’s most prominent wine personas. The collection features an impressively broad array of wines, including rare Bordeaux, Rhone, Champagne, and Burgundy, as well as mature California bottlings perfect for drinking now. Several examples from The Givton Collection will be available for tasting the day of the auction, so please be sure to visit the saleroom! The Saturday session is anchored by AN IMPORTANT MIDWESTERN CELLAR, FEATURING UNPRECEDENTED QUANTITIES AND FORMATS OF CHATEAU HAUT BRION BLANC, MONTRACHET DOMAINE DE LA ROMANEE CONTI, AND OTHER CLASSICS (Lots 828-1086). This deep offering comes from a passionate collector and includes mature Bordeaux going back to the 1934 vintage, incredible verticals of Chateau Haut Brion Blanc and Domaine de la Romanee Conti’s Montrachet, and a wonderful selection of Port and Italian bottlings.
We look forward to seeing you at Smith & Wollensky on October 26th and 27th! If you can't join us in the saleroom, be sure to submit your absentee bids or bid live online.
