The Early Spring Auction

Zachys returns to New York in grand style, kicking off The Early Spring Auction at two of Manhattan’s most iconic dining destinations. The festivities begin on the evening of Thursday, March 29th at The Grill Room at The Four Seasons Restaurant (99 East 52nd Street, New York City) beginning at 4:30 PM. We follow up on Saturday, March 31st with a full day’s session at Smith & Wollensky (Third Avenue and 49th Street, New York City) beginning at 9:30 AM. This is a can’t-miss auction event filled with amazing collections at two classic Manhattan locales.

Thursday evening’s festivities begin with A STELLAR SELECTION FROM A DISCERNING NORTHEASTERN COLLECTOR (Lots 1-85), an impressive collection highlighted by outstanding Bordeaux; the Rhone’s star producers; nine vintages of Giacomo Conterno’s Barolo Monfortino; Vega Sicilia Unico 1962 and 1970; and runs of Harlan Estate and Screaming Eagle. The anchor collection of Thursday’s sale is AN EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION OF BLUE CHIP EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN WINES (Lots 86-279), property of a Northern California collecting couple, which features First Growth Bordeaux 1961-2006, Grand Cru Burgundy 1937-2001, and California cult wines 1985-2004. At lots 304 through 418, we are honored to offer another selection from THE TREMENDOUS COLLECTION OF PROFESSOR ROBERT CARLSON, HIGHLIGHTED BY INSTANT COLLECTIONS FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE. Professor Carlson’s Burgundy collection was a feature of the La Paulée Auction in February, and we are excited to present the rest of his incredible cellar to the world.

Saturday morning gets going with A PRISTINE COLLECTION OF BORDEAUX, BURGUNDY, ITALY AND CALIFORNIA FROM A NORTHERN WESTCHESTER CELLAR (Lots 694-748), from a longtime associate of Zachys located just outside New York. Around lunchtime we will present A WORLD OF FINE WINE FROM A SILICON VALLEY ENTREPRENEUR (Lots 854-937), which encompasses a wealth of wine from Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley, Champagne, Spain, Italy and California. Also on Saturday, don’t miss A STUNNING ARRAY OF CHATEAU HAUT BRION FROM A PASSIONATE NEW ENGLAND COLLECTOR (Lots 938-990), selections from a longtime Zachys client which includes no fewer than twenty-seven cases of Chateau Haut Brion.
