Zachys Wine Auctions is once again honored to present The La Paulée Auction, occuring in San Francisco on Thursday and Friday, February 23-24. Although the sale includes wines from all over the world, Burgundy is featured prominently and is the deserved star of the show.
Thursday evening, look for TOP BURGUNDY FROM A METICULOUS COLLECTOR (Lots 1-51) which offers an extensive selection of Domaine de la Romanee Conti bottlings and other highly sought-after Burgundy. GREAT BURGUNDY FROM A PASSIONATE COLLECTOR (Lots 180-233) features the wines of Dujac, Rousseau, Ponsot, Leflaive, and a touch of Henri Jayer. WINES FROM ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST SPECTACULAR PRIVATE CELLARS (Lots 261-485), includes approximately $500,000 of the world’s best bottlings, especially top Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Italy, and California.
Friday’s session includes THE TREMENDOUS BURGUNDY COLLECTION OF PROFESSOR ROBERT CARLSON (Lots 573-687) which features a deep assortment of rare, mature Burgundy from the likes of Dujac, Ponsot, Vogue, Coche-Dury, and especially Raveneau. AN EXCEPTIONAL OFFERING OF DOMAINE DE LA ROMANEE CONTI (Lots 976-1010) represents the largest selection of DRC bottlings offered in the auction and includes several rare full case quantities and large formats in original wood. AN EXCLUSIVE OFFERING OF THE WINES OF DOMAINE JEAN-MARIE FOURRIER, A RISING STAR OF BURGUNDY (Lots 1010A-1036) represents a unique opportunity to acquire wines from one of Burgundy’s best young wine makers, including the first offering from the highly anticipated 2010 vintage. RAREST ROMANEE ST VIVANT (Lots 1037-1043) provides an exclusive opportunity to acquire the extremely rare Romanee St Vivant Domaine Dujac 2009, courtesy of legendary collector Wilf Jaeger.
Zachys is thrilled to once again host the exclusive auction associated with Daniel Johnnes’ La Paulée. The evening session will be held on Thursday, February 23 beginning at 6 PM at MICHAEL MINA (252 California Street, San Francisco). We follow up with a full day beginning at 10 AM on Friday, February 24 at RN74 (301 Mission Street, San Francisco). Specially prepared menus will be available during both auction sessions and all guests are highly encouraged to bring bottles from their cellars to enjoy during the sale. As in past years, this auction features “Immediate Indulgence” lots that can be collected by winning bidders during the sale and opened on the spot or used for other La Paulée festivities.
